Hey Huskies –

Hopefully you’re staying dry on this rainy Sunday afternoon. Gray skies have blanketed the area for most of the weekend with highs hovering in the upper 50s to low 60s, but don’t fear – sunshine is set to return soon!

Tomorrow morning we’ll see our last bout of steady showers before things start to dry out later in the day. By Tuesday, highs will jump into the low 70s and any remaining cloud cover will gradually clear! In the ensemble forecast below, each ensemble member’s forecast for temperatures over the next few days is represented by one of the colored lines. The peaks of the graph represent the high temperatures forecasted for each day. The first peak is this afternoon’s highs, the second is tomorrow’s, the third is Tuesday’s, and the final peak is Wednesday’s high temperatures. As you can see, there is a warming trend with each peak slightly higher than the last.

Ensemble temperature forecast through Wednesday.

Thanks to an upper-level ridge building overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday, highs will rise even further by Wednesday afternoon, making Wednesday the warmest day of the week with highs in the mid 70s expected. After an unseasonably cool and rainy May, a summery start to June is something we can all look forward to!

Upper-level ridge building Tuesday night. This is the UW WRF model’s forecast for 500mb geopotential heights at 11:00 PM on Tuesday.

Partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the 70s will persist through Friday. Have a wonderful last week of the quarter!
