Happy Thursday Huskies! I hope no one is missing the rain too much because we are heading into another day of clear skies. A persistent upper level ridge means high pressure at the surface, so you can expect warm temperatures peaking in the low 70s. For those of you who are new to Seattle, those temperatures are unseasonably high, so don’t get used to it; in fact, the mean high temperature in October from 1991-2020 was 61 degrees! Just like the warm temperatures, the dry spell is going to continue throughout the weekend. This is good news for football fans who are more accustomed to rainier football seasons, not so much for the wildfires in the Cascades. Light offshore winds will allow some smoke from the wildfires to drift toward Seattle so although the sky will be cloudless, there will likely be some haze. Once the pattern shifts and the rainy season kicks in, sunny days will be more rare so take advantage of the weather by studying out in the quad, attending the W Day festivities in Red Square on Friday, and showing some school spirit at the game on Saturday! Gooooooo Huskies!
