We say it a lot but this IS a happy Friday!

It is the final day of autumn quarter classes and now finals week begins!

The weather will give us plenty of reason to say indoors this weekend, as a big storm makes its way into Western Washington this evening and into Saturday.

Plenty of rain, wind and mountain snow will lead to a very Seattle-like fall Saturday, with lowland temperatures in the 40s and mountain temperatures just cold enough for snowfall. Region-wide, winds will be noticeable tonight, but especially for folks in the foothills, along the coast and in northern Puget Sound where a wind advisory is in effect for gusts up to 45 mph.

Things look a little better Sunday if you’re needed to get out for some some holiday shopping, but plenty of showers will still be around the area. Highs will be in the mid-40s.

If blue sky is your thing, next week is looking sunnier and drier. A few rain showers linger around Monday morning, possibly mixing with wet snow on the higher hills, before cold, dry northerly winds push the precipitation out of the area by Monday evening.

Tuesday and Wednesday remain dry with high temperatures remaining below seasonal average in the upper-30s to low-40s. Overnight lows next week again drop toward the freezing mark so look out for black ice and freezing fog, especially if you’re driving late at night or early in the morning.

No big storms are on the horizon after this weekend, but the drier weather will also be chilly for the extended forecast.

Good luck on finals, Huskies!
