Happy Tuesday, Dawgs! We hope everyone is hanging in there as we are now in the thick of winter quarter. If you need a bit of encouragement, just know we’re only five weeks away from Spring break!

As you may have noticed, the temperatures are quite chilly to start off the week. However, we are actually extremely average for this time of year. Today, we should reach a high temperature of about 42 degrees. The average temperature in our area for January 31st is 42.9 degrees. Thus, we are sitting just barely below the temperature we expect. Tonight, we’ll drop down to 34 degrees which is one of the coldest nights we will get this week.

A weak ridge of high pressure will continue to keep us dry tomorrow and through Thursday afternoon. Speaking of tomorrow, we should be slightly warmer than today at around 45 degrees. There is a lower chance of sunbreaks but that’s okay considering many of us will likely be studying for midterms anyways.
Try to get outside in the next couple of days because beginning Thursday night, the rain will make an unfortunate return. A trough will move into our region bringing with it a frontal system and thus wetter conditions. Avoid making any extravagant plans outdoors this weekend unless you’re a fan of the rain.
Good luck with the rest of the week and congrats on surviving the first month of 2023! Here’s to a new month ahead of us with increasing daylight and hopefully temperatures!
