Happy Friday Huskies! I think that someone must be listening to us and heard we had midterms this week, because this grey start to Friday is reflecting our mood. Here’s a look at the daily almanac for April 21st.

Yes the wet, cool start to Friday continues the pattern of disappointing weather. Yesterday, we broke a record! … for the lowest daily high temperature for April 20th on record, a brisk 43 degrees. So far, we’ve reached 44, with an afternoon high likely in the upper-40s. Fortunately, we should remain rain free at least through the rest of today. This is despite the fact that we’re experiencing a wetter-than-average April:

The rest of the weekend is looking rather boring, without anything new for this time of the year. Saturday afternoon temperatures are looking the most promising for dry, mild weather. A bout of precipitation is likely to roll in Saturday night and through Sunday morning, associated with the passing of a frontal system. Sunday AM precipitation should give way for a quiet afternoon, before more rain passes through the area in the Evening. Next week kicks off with a dry Monday, with little change to our temperatures – with highs in the low-50s and lows in the mid-to-lower 40s.

Looking ahead we do have some promising news! Models are showing some warmer weather beginning to push into Washington starting Tuesday. I’ll remind you of the last time we had real, warm weather: October 17th, 2022, when we reached 88 degrees. It’s been just over a half a year, 186 days, since we last hit 70 degrees and, at least in the Seattle City area, we will likely have to continue to wait for 70s. But, be on the lookout for a beautiful weekend for outdoor activities, as this is the first promising warming event of the year! We’ll keep you updated on how warm we expect next week’s temperatures to be, this far out things can still be a little bit of a toss up.
