Happy Monday, Huskies, and welcome to Week 5!
After a few long months of cold, below average temperatures it looks like there will finally be a breakthrough of both sunshine and warmth by the end of the week!
Leftover showers from last night’s system are scattered across this afternoon’s radar as they make their way eastward. Although they will occasionally block our warm sunshine, they don’t seem to pose a threat of precipitation to the Seattle Metro area. However, the western Puget Sound and the mountains will experience some pockets of precipitation throughout the day.
Once today’s scattered showers pass, upper level ridging will allow for some drier and clearer conditions to persist over the area. In fact, there is little to no rain at all on Seattle’s forecast for the next 7 days! Lingering clouds will keep Tuesday’s temperatures from rising too much, however sunshine will start taking over the forecast as the week draws to a close. The typical high temperature for late April is about 62 degrees and Wednesday through Sunday manage to meet or exceed that significantly.
All eyes are on Friday at the moment as it seems to be the most promising day for this welcome and warm change. By the evening, most models are showing temperatures in the high 70s, some even hinting at a potential for low 80s in the southern Puget Sound. For those who are hoping to plan some fun out in the sun, Friday and Saturday will be your best days!
This sunny, warm weather will hopefully cheer everyone up as we wrap up midterm season! Good luck with exams, Huskies and enjoy the upcoming sunshine!
