One Day Heatwave

Hey Huskies!

I hope finals week is going well for everyone so far and congratulations to those who have finished up already.

Today will be another great day for graduation photos as summer-like conditions continue. However, these pleasant conditions are bringing with them some fire risk over the next couple days. The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement highlighting the unseasonably dry conditions and increased risk for fire spread.

So, for anyone who is going to be out and about these next few days make sure to be careful if you are doing anything that involves fire. Avoiding anything fire related would be best if you are able to do so as grasses and other vegetation are drying out quickly due to the lack of rain.

Today we will see a sharp rise in temperatures with areas around Western Washington getting into the upper 80s and maybe even 90 degrees in some areas. If SeaTac airport hits the 90-degree mark today, it will be the first 90-degree day of the year. This heatwave will only last for today though with a cool down coming by the end of the week. Thursday will have high temperatures around ten degrees cooler than today. Friday will then have the first chance for rain in a while in the form of showers crossing the Cascades. This will not be widespread, but the plants will take what they can get as we head into the dry season.

Now, for graduation day it looks like it will be dry with some clouds in the sky and temperatures in the low 70s. Looks very comfortable and perfect for celebrating all of your hard work. I hope everyone has a great rest of your week and has a great start to summer!
