Happy Friday Huskies!

After a fairly comfortable start to the month of August, we will see a return to toastier conditions heading into next week. The rest of Friday will have temperatures top out around 80 degrees with an overnight low around 60. This weekend will be a transition period with Saturday having highs in the low 80s with some clouds and Sunday being clearer with highs getting into the upper 80s.

High pressure begins to build on Sunday as the warm up begins with winds blowing offshore. This shuts off the marine influence that normally keeps our temperatures from getting too warm. Relative humidity will be low as well, elevating fire danger in the region on Sunday and Monday.

Temperatures look to peak mid-week with highs on Tuesday through Thursday getting near or above 90 degrees. Low temperatures will also be quite warm, with it only getting into the mid-60s overnight. Make sure to take safety precautions with the heat coming up such as limiting outdoor activity, staying hydrated, and using sunscreen.

This warm pattern looks to break up by the end of next week as stronger onshore flow returns.

There are also some weather statistics to watch as we continue into August. We are currently in the middle of a 51 day streak with a high temperature of 70 degrees or higher. This is currently the sixth longest stretch recorded at SeaTac airport, with the longest streak of 72 days set back in 2017.

Our daylight hours are starting to go down as we get further from the Summer Solstice. On June 21, we had just under 16 hours of daylight in Seattle. Now we are down to 14:29 and are losing a little under 3 minutes per day.

Have a great weekend Huskies!
