Start of the Quarter Forecast

Hey Huskies
Today is already the last day before the start of the quarter and the weather is reflecting the change in the season. We started off this week by getting more rain on Sunday and Monday combined than the entirety of the summer season. It’s Fall!
The cold front may have moved through, but in its wake we are seeing heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms around western Washington. It is also much chillier with temperatures only getting into the low 60s so far today. Rain and blustery winds will be off and on throughout the rest of today as waves of showers move through the area.
Tomorrow though, is quite the forecast if you like a little uncertainty all the way up until the end. Right now, a fairly small storm is developing to our southwest (circled in the satellite image below). Later tonight, it will strengthen rather quickly as it approaches the coast. The question is where on the coast will it move inland and how strong will it get.
A more southerly track (around Astoria) would bring some rain for the morning as we are heading to class, but nothing too disruptive. A more northerly track (between Grays Harbor and Strait of Juan de Fuca could bring heavy rain and winds gusting into the 40mph range in the morning. With models not providing much clarity and it being around 12 hours out, watching the live satellite come in is the way to go.
So make sure to be prepared for a stormy start to the quarter tomorrow.
There will be some more rain showers on Thursday and then we will dry out as we head into Friday and the weekend.
