Stormy Tuesday Evening

Happy Tuesday Huskies!
We hope everyone’s midterms are going well. This evening brings in much more fall-like weather with heavier rain and chillier temperatures that could keep us below 50 degrees for the first time in months.
A look at the satellite shows us why. To our northwest you can see a low pressure area off the coast of Vancouver Island. By 4PM the rain associated with this low will be moving in and will be here through the early morning hours on Wednesday. The heaviest rain looks to be between 8PM and midnight so hopefully not too many of you are having to be outside then.
By morning, we will have some decent rainfall totals with a half to three quarters of an inch falling in Seattle. There will even be some higher totals towards the coast and the Canadian border.
Behind this storm temperatures will drop fairly significantly. High temperatures will struggle to reach 50 degrees on some days and we may even see our first brush with the 32 degree mark by the weekend. For the next few days though, overnight temperatures will be in the upper 30s.
These chillier temperatures also mean that the mountains will see their first significant snowfall of the season. Some areas above 3,000 feet could see a foot to two feet of snow which has prompted a Winter Storm Warning for areas in the North and Central Cascades. The snow level will be at or near pass level so make sure to track the pass conditions if you intend to travel. You can find this information here: Mountain passes & winter travel | WSDOT
Have a great rest of your Tuesday and stay dry, Huskies!
