Happy Thursday Huskies,

We hope the fourth week of the quarter has been treating you well. We will be seeing some additional rain showers throughout the day today now that we are back in a much more traditional winter weather pattern. Over the weekend we will see a bit of a change with temperatures expected to feel quite balmy, some might even say tropical. Stronger southerly flow will bring in moisture rich subtropical air that will have periods of heavy rain and temperatures approaching the 60 degree mark on Monday. Quite the change from a couple weeks ago where we were dealing with daytime highs not getting above freezing.

We will start seeing more substantial rain move in during the day time on Friday and it will continue into Saturday. By Sunday night, many areas in the lowlands will see 1 to 2 inches of rainfall. Monday is when we will really start to feel the impact of the southerly flow with temperatures getting into the upper 50s.

Here is your mountain forecast, huskies! The shortwave trough giving lowland Washington their scattered showers will be creating light snow and wintery weather for the Cascades. This changes over the weekend with snowfall in the mountains forecast to reach higher levels. If you’re driving up to the pass this weekend, it is going to be pretty rainy so make sure to stay safe on the road. Visibility is down to a quarter of a mile heading up to the passes and this is due to an influx of developing fog over the areas. Be sure to stay safe huskies and get ready to hit those slopes!

We also thought you would get a laugh out of this tweet from NWS St. Louis. From a Pacific Northwest perspective, 85 hours is nothing.

Have a great rest of your week Huskies!
