Happy first 5 pm sunset of the year, Huskies! The days are getting longer, although they felt short most of this week due to all the clouds and rain. By dead week, sunsets will be in the 6 o’clock hour and past 7 pm by finals week (thanks to daylight savings). Today was a typical late January day here in Seattle, with a high in the low-50s and overcast skies. The rain has also moved in, and is here to stay (on and off) through the weekend.
We are going to continue warming up through the weekend as yet another atmospheric river moves into the area. The high tomorrow will be around 52 degrees, Sunday should reach around 55, and we might even see 60 by Monday.
In terms of rain, it looks as though it will be pretty steady in Seattle with gloomy conditions expected through Sunday night. If you were planning on skiing this weekend, you might want to change your plans as warm air will raise the snow levels to over 7000 feet, so it will likely be raining at the resorts.
In better news, Monday might be a lovely day to venture outside. Lingering showers should clear off in the afternoon making way for a chance of sunbreaks along with temperatures in the upper-50s, possibly even reaching 60.
Don’t worry, the rain will return by Monday night to lead us into another cloudy and wet week. Have a great weekend!
