Happy Monday, Huskies! I am sure you are all preparing for midterms coming up soon. For those who are enjoying the warmer weather, today and tomorrow will carry on with high temperatures in the low-60s, hitting a record high since 1992. For those of you who are enjoying the recent rain, we’ll continue to see that especially during the mid-week over Wednesday and Thursday.
The jet stream has been on a Hawaiian vacation the last few days, bringing us a taste of pineapple express. You can see the deep trough over the Pacific, which has been pumping a large plume of warm, subtropical moisture up the west coast. While we’re getting the mild, humid air, we’re actually avoiding the worst of the rainfall – some parts of British Columbia will see almost another 3 inches of rainfall by Thursday morning.
Has the humidity been getting to you? A pattern change is in the works! The upper level trough over the North Pacific will begin shifting inland this week, with this week’s rain events perhaps being our last major ones for a week or more, as the jet focuses instead on California.
Enjoy the warmth for the next couple of days until the rain cools us down, as it may be awhile before we get any substantial rain showers again.
Good luck on midterms, Dawgs!
