Rain Clearing up this Weekend

Good afternoon, Huskies!

Over the past few days we’ve settled into weather that is definitively Seattle, and that looks to just keep on going through at least the end of the week. With higher-than-normal temperatures and lots of rainy days, however, it feels far more like spring out there than it does winter. Throughout the day today, intermittent showers have made their way through the Sound, and the wet weather will peak overnight, with the heaviest rain expected after midnight.

Showers will be tapering off by lunchtime Thursday, and by the end of the week, we’ll be left drying out and sunny. An approaching cold front will give us high temperatures that are more February-like, with highs Saturday dropping below 50 degrees for the first time in days. All this rain has kept us just above average for this water year, but due to the recent warmth, we’re well below average for snowpack. Much of the Cascades have only 60-70% of normal amounts.

Along with the average precipitation levels you may think that temperatures have also been mostly seasonable as well the past few weeks. This could not be further from the truth, as over the past three weeks, we’ve gone from arctic cold and almost breaking low temperature records to Pineapple Expresses and setting daily high records this past week.

Anyway, this weekend is looking nice and dry, with seasonable temperatures to come. Both Saturday and Sunday are looking favorable for getting outside and enjoying the fresh air and perhaps a sunbreak or two!

Have a great weekend Huskies, and make sure to enjoy the outdoors being hospitable!
