SUN SIGHTING POSSIBLE?!?! 😨☀️

Hey there Huskies, happy last Monday before finals! As you were studying hard to catch up on your classes, the atmosphere was doing some last-minute cramming of its own. The Olympics and Cascades had fallen behind on their winter assignments too, but made a lot of headway the last several days, with more work to come. Several weeks ago, the Olympics were at about 33% of normal Snow Water Equivalent (SWE), while most of the Cascades were below 50%. While every region still has significantly less snowpack than they should, it’s not nearly as dire a situation as it had been.

As the snowpack is building up in the mountains, down here in the lowlands, we’re starting to see some light peeking through, with today being an end to the tunnel of sorts. The satellite below shows the current conditions with a lot of cloud coverage, but  a hint of that sun trying to come through.

For the rest of today, even as the clouds depart to make room for more sun in the next few days, there is still a chance of showers so make sure you still have your favorite hoodie just in case.

For Wednesday and Thursday, it will look about the same with cool temperatures of mid-40s and lows dipping down into the 30s, just with a nice side of sunshine that will stick around for most of this week. You could see some slick roads in the mornings on your way to campus, so watch where you’re stepping! Showers are expected to return by the end of the week possibly into the weekend as the high temperatures creep up to the low 50s.

We hope this last push of assignments before finals week progresses as well as the snowpack has in the mountains! Keep up the hard work, because we know the atmosphere will!
