Hey Huskies, Happy Tuesday!

Enjoy the last burst of warm weather while it lasts, with a high of 69 in Seattle and well above average for this time of year. Only a few high clouds will be traversing over the area today, making for a comfortable spring day. However, beginning tomorrow and continuing through the rest of this week, cool temperatures and April showers will make a return to the region. So if you have any outdoor plans, keep them towards this afternoon if possible!

Today we’re seeing bands of clouds move through western Washington off of the Pacific ocean. Although these are not rain-laden clouds they will still be prominent throughout the region, potentially bringing some shade to our warm day. Starting tomorrow though, we will be seeing the familiar Seattle Stratus move into the region as a precipitation bearing system slowly moves through the region, out of the northwest.

The rest of the work week will deliver some much needed rain along with a significant cool down. Tomorrows highs will only reach the mid 50s accompanied by rain in the evening. This brings us into the rainiest day of the week on Thursday where we will see wet weather persist throughout the day. Rainfall totals are expected to reach over half an inch by 8pm Thursday making for a soggy commute home. High temps will dip into the low 50s to wrap up Week 5 with very little diurnal temperature variation during the nighttime hours. Long range models are suggesting that these below-average temperatures will persist into the weekend and early next week as well.

Good luck with any midterms you may have this week and don’t forget to keep your raincoat handy for your commute to class!
