Sunny Week, Cozy Weekend Ahead

Happy Wednesday Huskies!

Today’s weather brings us some delightful and much needed sunshine, perfect for today’s special event for kids around Seattle: Weather Education Day with the Mariners! We have our senior Dawgcast members as well as our mentor Shannon O’Donnell out on the field today, as well as plenty of local weather partners to get kids interested in what meteorology is all about! Be sure to check out our Twitter during the day today for more about this event.

As for this afternoon, clouds will start to roll in, potentially making for a fantastic sunset and a pleasant wrap-up to the Mariners game. Here’s a look at some of those puffy fair-weather cumulus clouds popping up around Seattle from our ATG building’s webcam.

Tomorrow is going to be the nicest day of the rest of the week, with temperatures climbing to around 60, and likely even warmer with full sunshine.

On Friday, we should see a turn in the weather, with increasing clouds in the afternoon before an incoming low pressure system brings some widespread rain. Showers are looking to begin just after the start of the evening commute as of now.

Speaking of rain, April’s totals ended up being pretty pitiful, close to the lowest amounts on record for SeaTac. And for the hydrological year overall, we are beginning to fall below average for rainfall–not a good sign for this summer.

Perhaps this weekend can change some of these statistics. If the current upper level trough continues as forecast, Seattle and most of Western WA is set to get over half an inch of rain by Saturday afternoon, with even more to come on Sunday.

Enjoy the sun this week, and prepare to get cozy for the weekend Huskies, and good luck on any remaining midterms!
