A Brighter End to Week 10

By Haley Furutani and Sam Pham

Hey Huskies! We hope you are holding up as spring quarter winds down and finals quickly approach.

Although we are approaching June, it certainly does not look like it outside as we continue to see rounds of showers and cooler temperatures. Today, showers will continue to persist through the afternoon and begin to wind down as we head into the evening hours. Highs will be in the mid-to upper 50s, which is 10-15 degrees below average for this time of year. It’s a great day to stay indoors and study for those finals coming up.

Looking at the rain totals through mid-day Wednesday, the showers will be light in nature and accumulation won’t be significant. However, there is a chance of a thunderstorm or two tomorrow afternoon as a convergence zone develops over our area. Higher rainfall totals will be observed in any areas that are caught under a thunderstorm. Otherwise, expect some sunbreaks to mix in with tomorrow’s showers.

The second half of the week is looking brighter as an upper-level ridge builds just south of our region. By Thursday, we will catch a break in the wet weather and begin warming back up into the low 60s thanks to this system of high pressure. You can expect partly sunny skies for the bulk of the day.

Mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures in the mid-60s will set the stage for a pleasant end to week 10 and the month of May. This dry break is a perfect opportunity for spring graduates who are looking to take photos around campus!

We will say hello to June with continued mild temperatures and partial sunshine throughout the day. By Sunday, temperatures will dip back into the upper 50s but rain showers should hold off until the evening making for decent conditions to kick off department graduation ceremonies around campus.

Have a great rest of the week, Huskies! Finish off the quarter strong, you’re almost there!
