Starting the Week With ‘Juneuary,’ but Ending With Summer Warmth
By Joseph Renalds
Hey Huskies!
We have started out this week in seemingly typical June fashion. Some of the names for this are “June Gloom” or “Juneuary,” which is my personal favorite. Overcast skies and temperatures of 60 degrees are a part of June here due to the onshore flow we get off the Pacific Ocean. Taking a look at the satellite you can see there are some areas where the sun is making an appearance, but the cloudiness will be hanging around for the rest of the day in Seattle.
If you are not a fan of these cool temperatures and gray skies, then you may appreciate the forecast for the rest of this week. Starting Tuesday, the temperatures will gradually warm up and the clouds will mostly clear out as a ridge develops over the region. Highs will reach the low 80s by the end of the week, which matches up with the first day of astronomical summer on Thursday.
The warmest day looks to be on Friday before a trough swings in from the Gulf of Alaska on Saturday. The timing of the trough’s progression will impact how warm it could get on Saturday so we will keep you updated. After this it will cool down and clouds will return to the region.
Have a good rest of your week Huskies and good luck to those who are starting Summer Quarter!
