Good Morning Huskies! Hope you’ve got your coffee ready as we head into week 2 of the quarter. As you head out the door, be prepared to be greeted by a crisp chill as temperatures are hovering in the mid-thirties. It’s a day to bundle up with as we will only make it up into the lower forties. While the day will start off with a stratus deck lurking around, these clouds may yield some nice sunshine later in the day.
Looking out to the next five days, we will have relatively stable weather conditions but with cold temperatures. You might see some blue skies and receive some sunshine for Tuesday and Wednesday after possible foggy mornings. Don’t let the sunshine fool you, though—daytime highs will barely nudge past 40 degrees. So, if you’re heading out to soak up the sun, bundle up to keep the chill at bay! Moving on to Thursday, we might get some chances of rain and lose the view of the sun on Friday. Luckily, as the high-pressure system moves closer to the West Coast, sunny days will be back on Saturday. One thing to note—while clear skies are always welcome, they come with a catch. Although a high-pressure system could bring us clear skies, the air temperature will drop to freezing point especially in the morning hours due to the clear-sky radiation effect. Morning lows might flirt with freezing, making it the perfect excuse to stay snuggled in bed a little longer this weekend.
Turning our focus to a national scale, the California wildfires around LA are forecasted to remain a substantial threat with Santa Ana winds projected to increase tonight, decreasing slightly over the next few days. Red flag warnings remain in place along the southern tip of California and the critical fire weather and fire spreading is expected to continue till Wednesday at a minimum. We give our thanks to all those who are currently fighting the flames and saving homes and lives down south of the PNW.
For the rest of us Huskies, have a great start to your week, and make sure to enjoy the dry winter week in Seattle!
