 Morning Huskies!

Get ready for two big games this weekend as the Mariners take on the Tigers in Game 5 and your Washington Huskies take on Rutgers on Friday. But first, let’s give you what you came for.

Our fall temperatures are finally coming back. After some pleasant highs in the first two weeks of class, we are now experiencing the true fall weather in Seattle. We have “fall”-en into temperatures of mid to high 50’s, where we will stay for the next week. Expect some light showers during the weekend, with occasional sun breaks scattered throughout. Don’t forget to grab your coat and scarf for your morning commutes to class to avoid any unwanted cold-induced illness. Make sure to enjoy the changing colors of the trees on campus before they disappear for winter!

Can you believe it’s already winter again? Luckily, we’ve got a three-day trial (or maybe even more) for the winter temperature. As a low pressure system moves in, the temperature is going to drop significantly on the weekend, especially in the morning hours. The winter switch-on is going to be on Saturday, kicking off with a cold, rainy day. Saturday’s highs will be around 60s (15.5°C), and it doesn’t look like things will improve much, even though Sunday will be drier. The lowest temperature will be on Monday morning (sorry for anyone who has to get up early for morning classes). It’s looking like it’s going to be the coldest Monday of this autumn so far, with temperatures of around 45°F (8°C). The strong wind will make things even worse, the wind chill could drop down to around 40°F (5°C). So, make sure you’re wearing your coats and keep warm when you head to your morning classes!

As the next low pressure system dives south across the region late in the weekend, our next round of precipitation will enter the region. Accompanying it will be some gusty northerly winds  at around 30 mph. These winds will make the already cool daytime highs feel a touch chillier to the skin There will be a renewed push of northerly winds Columbus afternoon as well before finally things settle down into a drier but chillier and potentially frosty pattern..

There may be rain in the forecast but that won’t stop our Husky pride going into another Football Friday. With the home game against Rutgers, be prepared for some intermediate showers with lows in the mid to low 50’s.

Have a great Thursday and stop by tomorrow for another update on all things weather here on your campus. Go Dawgs!
