Happy Friday, Huskies!

Hopefully, you are getting thru the grind of midterms as we approach the end of week 4. Before that, we have your forecast for a very important Game 5 for the Mariners later this afternoon. Luckily, the weather will cooperate as partly cloudy skies will be present throughout the game as temperatures will be remain pleasantly cool in the upper 50s, so make sure you bring a warm jacket if you are lucky enough to go to the game.

A stronger front will approach on Saturday, which will cause rain to spread inland in the afternoon. This will also bring strong winds where sustained winds will hit about 15 mph, including gusts up to around 30 mph on Saturday night. The front will move through Western Washington early Sunday morning and continue to bring precipitation along with it. Winds will slow down a little bit, but still bring gusts up to around 25 mph. Expect between a tenth and a quarter inch possible on Sunday, which has the possibility to be higher if a thunderstorm occurs. There are chances of thunderstorms to occur Sunday evening as the air mass destabilizes and increases atmospheric instability.

In the Northern Cascades, the snow level will be around 7500 ft. on Saturday but see a large droppage to near 5000 ft. on Sunday. Expected precipitation on Saturday ranges from 1-2 inches, amounts varying based on locality. On Sunday, the precipitation will stick around but only about 0.5-1 inch expected. This is not the best weekend to head into the high country, but if you plan to, continue to monitor forecasts and stay safe.

As the front pushes through, it’ll bring some breezy conditions following right behind it. Winds will begin to pick up late Saturday evening, before peaking by Sunday midday. Sustained winds around the area will remain around 15-20 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 30-40 mph at times. For folks living in the Northwest Interior and near the Strait of Juan de Fuca, you might experience more of those gusts closer to 40 mph. While there is no wind advisory issued at the moment, isolated downed branches and power outages are likely. If you are looking to photograph some of those peak fall colors, now is the time to do so before the leaves get blown away!

Have a great weekend, Huskies!!!
