In a rare turn of events, we’re actually experiencing some clear skies in the midst of No Sun November. An upper-level ridge is passing through this weekend, which are generally associated with calmer weather, as it stifles upward convection leading to precipitation. This weekend, get in your runs, hikes, or other outdoor activities while you can, because generally we don’t see weather like this in the heart of November. Expect chilly temperatures, with highs in the high 40s, and lows in the mid-to-high 30s. You may not be warm, but at least you’ll be dry.

Loop from right now to Monday evening. Red indicates higher-than-normal pressure by climatological averages.

As for today, we may experience some brief showers in the morning and early afternoon, but they should make way for the dry weather soon enough. Today we can expect a high in the high 40s, and a low right around 40 degrees. Early next week, we can expect the next system to move in either Monday evening or Tuesday morning. Snow accumulation is possible for the mountain passes, so if you’re going home for Thanksgiving, keep an eye out as more information comes in to ensure safe travels. Enjoy the dry weekend everyone!
