Happy Week 7, Huskies!
With decreasing chance of midterms this week will come gradually decreasing chances of wet and cool conditions. But first, we have one more day of possible stormy weather! The Storm Prediction Center has much of the PNW in a general thunderstorm outlook today, so we could see a few sparks and pops out of the sky during late afternoon today. ⚡ 🤔
The broad trough which has shipped front after front through western Washington the past week or so is still affecting the region; a relatively cold pool of air remains in place above us, allowing for fairly steep lapse rates and some chances for convection. If you need to kill time this afternoon, there should be some fascinating radar-watching to do as severe storms spin through the south central U.S./plateau. 🌪️
As the week progresses we will see a strong ridge develop, which will give us that oh-so-sweet stable conditions from a more gradual lapse rate. As high pressure builds, we’ll see a rise in temperatures. Expect nice sunny conditions to start enjoying those May flowers we had to endure April showers for.
To summarize the week ahead, here’s a look at the forecast for the next 5 days. On Tuesday there may be some showers early in the day, but not likely to last throughout the day, as well as below average temperature for this time of year. Wednesday will warm up slightly and be closer on par with average temperatures. Beginning Thursday we’ll warm up to above average and shake off most of the lingering clouds bringing us into the weekend where conditions will likely break 80 degrees, giving us the warmest day of 2024!☀️🥵
Hopefully this sunny weather can power you through your last midterms huskies, try to avoid that spring slump.
