Good Afternoon Huskies! This morning started off with some lingering sunshine but the clouds have moved in and will stick around for the foreseeable future. While the first half of October featured mild temps and bountiful sunshine, we are transitioning into a much cooler and wetter pattern this week. Yesterdays presumable last seventy degree day was supported by High Pressure that had been siting over the region over the weekend.

An Upper Level trough will exert multiple disturbances our way the next few days, bringing with them rain and the first snow of the season in the higher elevations.

One symptom of the aforementioned upper level disturbances will be the much-awaited turning on of the autumnal atmospheric faucet. Just between today’s system and a wetter front arriving Wednesday, Seattle will accumulate over half an inch of rainfall by mid-day Thursday. The Storm Prediction Center is also outlining a general thunderstorm risk over western Washington for Wednesday.

Rain is going to be moving into Seattle later today, but temperatures will still be in the mid 60s today. Showers are expected to continue throughout the week, with some sunbreaks on Wednesday and Thursday. The coolest temperatures of the fall so far are expected mid-week as the rain storms through Seattle. Despite the cooler weather, the low temperatures should stay near to above average through the middle of the week.

Well Huskies, it’s time to arm yourself with your raincoats and umbrellas to get from your home to the library. Now’s the time to stay inside and finally read that textbook! (Especially if you have midterms coming up) Have a great week!
