Happy Election Day, Huskies!

After a rainy start to November, the sun was finally back to shining over Seattle. However, the UW campus is currently experiencing some convergence zone showers. After those clear out, the sunny conditions will return. Temperatures around the sound will peak on either side of 50 today with light winds, making conditions for those outside the convergence zone pleasant for going to an in-person voting center or returning a ballot to a drop box. Temperatures tonight may drop below 40 for the first time since April, so bring a jacket if you’re voting later in the day or heading to any election coverage watch parties. For UW students registered to vote in King County, there is a ballot drop box outside of Schmitz Hall on west campus and an in-person voting center in the HUB (room 145).

Looking ahead to the rest of the week, things will stay pretty dry. Daytime highs will be in the low-to-mid 50s, with a mix of clouds and sun. Our next shot of rain looks to be Friday night into Saturday morning.

For those of you interested in the election today, here is how the weather shakes out in some key battleground states. The weather might impact voter turnout so it’s important to be prepared.

Southwest

NV→ Las Vegas will see a clear and sunny election day. Going into the evening, winds are expected to pick up in the 20-35 mph zone as the next storm system is prepping to come through. Hopefully, everyone got their votes in by then but if not, you may be accompanied by a wind advisory in the evening, so hold onto those ballots!

AZ→ Phoenix is expecting sunny and dry conditions today, not out of the usual. Highs are expected to be in the low 70s with some breezes, but still pretty calm.

Midwest
WI → In Milwaukee, it is rainy with temperatures in the 60s and a low-pressure system moving across central Wisconsin.
MI → Michigan is pretty gusty today. In Detroit it is partly cloudy with temperatures in the high 60s, even reaching into the low 70s at times. However, in Traverse City, it is more windy and rainy with temperatures in the 60s.

East Coast
PA → In Pittsburgh, it is partly sunny with temperatures in the mid-70s, a perfect day to stand in line to vote! In Philadelphia, it is mostly sunny, and highs in the 60s. Pennsylvania has a state-wide average of temperatures in the 60s.
GA → In Atlanta, it is partly cloudy with temps in the upper 70s with light to moderate winds. In Savannah and Southern GA, temps will feel a little toasty in the low 80s, but still very comfortable to get out and vote!
NC → Moderate winds of 8-10 mph with gusts around 18 mph. Temps in the mid-70s statewide except for the mountains with temperatures in the 60s. Partly to mostly sunny. Raleigh will be in the upper 70s, while Charlotte could struggle to break 70.

Make sure to get out and vote today, even in these chilly conditions!
