Happy Wednesday Huskies!

How are you enjoying the misty, foggy morning so far? A fall classic combination of calm winds and lots of low-level moisture has led to areas of stray showers and fog, especially around the higher points of our Seattle hills. The current satellite image shows plenty of low stratus pooling around the Sound, keeping temperatures low, humidities high, and sunlight rare.

Normal temperatures for this time of year range from 50 degrees for our highs and 39 degrees for our lows. The expected high for today is 46 degrees, certainly a notch cooler than average. By mid-afternoon we should see a change in wind direction, bringing down some drier, colder air from British Columbia.

Taking a look at our expected temperatures for the Thanksgiving holiday and into the weekend, we can see our cooler air at work, keeping high temperatures steady in the mid-40s. Thankfully there will be only a slight chance for showers in these coming days, which should give us a fairly dry, albeit chilly, 4-day weekend.

Tomorrow, Thanksgiving is expected to be dry with a high of 45 degrees. There is the chance for the sun to make a rare appearance to spread some holiday cheer in the afternoon, which always makes local travel easier weather-wise. If you are traveling, many websites can help you plan your trip, both for weather and traffic conditions. WSDOT’s real-time Travel Map is great for viewing traffic flow along major Washington roads. WSDOT also makes a graphical product to highlight peak travel times for travel along I-5, and has sites with information about mountain pass travel, should there be a stray snow flurry in the higher elevations.

Safe travels this week, Huskies, enjoy the break, and stay warm!
