Making Good Calls for Seattle 🔱

Happy Tuesday, Huskies!

Contrary to popular belief, meteorologists can not actually change the outcome of the weather, but we can still try to predict what’s going to happen. This is as opposed to an umpire, who can change the outcome of a game with a couple of bad calls. My plan today is to make some good calls, though my calls can not do justice to what many of us witnessed last night. My first call is that we’re going to be seeing some rain tomorrow.

The rain that we’re looking at tomorrow will be pretty light, not more than a couple hundredths of an inch during the afternoon and evening hours. Tomorrow morning looks to be pretty good for not seeing rain, so if you have only morning classes, temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s are the only concern for the morning hours. We will still get some warming in the afternoon though, and I’d expect to end up somewhere in the mid-60s for the high tomorrow. Still, I’m betting on seeing at least some sprinkles tomorrow. It’s hard to hit a baseball when raining. Strike one.

This next system coming in tomorrow doesn’t just bring rain, but it also brings in some gusty winds in the afternoon. The graphic below shows some wind gusts right around 30mph for Seattle, and we could see some sustained winds up towards 20mph as well during the afternoon. The gusty winds could also see some areas receive some power outages and downed tree branches. While a 30mph pitch would make it absolutely nowhere near the plate, we can always still get a swing and a miss. Strike two.

I’m sure we have all noticed the sun deciding it’s that time of year to hide from us for most of the day, and the sunset times reflect that. This Sunday has the final 6:00pm sunset of the year, and next Saturday will be the final 5:00pm sunset as we head into The Big Dark with daylight savings time ending at 2:00am on November 2nd. Good luck hitting the ball when it’s dark outside and the power is out from the wind gusts. Strike three.

Check back here tomorrow to see if my calls today end up being good or not. At least I wouldn’t have been the only one making bad calls for Seattle this week if I’m wrong. We may have not made it to the World Series this year, but we made it the furthest that we have ever made it, and here’s to making it all the way next year! 🔱

Have a great rest of your Tuesday, and go out there and Seize The Moment!!!
