Trainees can seek Allies’ support for a wide variety of reasons. Some of the most common include:

• Conflict in the lab
• Feelings of isolation, not belonging
• Mismatch in expectations between trainee and advisor
• Concerns over meeting program milestones.
• Mentoring needs that are not being met.
• Difficulty communicating with peers, advisor, or others.
• TA workloads or conflict with students, faculty
• Uncertainty about career pathways
• Experiences of bias, discrimination, and harassment
