About Me
I’m one of those residents who almost had a career before med school (in clinical researchand working in the foster care system) then flipped it all for this crazy adventure. When looking for a residency program it was important for me to be inspired by my colleagues, supported on a personal level, and have opportunities to be challenged in a way that I would feel capable practicing independently at the end of this. I’m also white, in the first generation of doctors in my family, vegetarian, trying to date in residency, a self-appointed godparent to my friend’s kids, and highly focused on staying hydrated every day.
Why Seattle?
Feels more like a small town of neighborhoods than other big cities, close to mountains, all the events, BLM, Native and Asian activists in this city working towards local and national change.
Interests
Bringing care and support for trans and gender diverse youth to rural places, empowering adolescents to take charge in their healthcare and craft their own story about identifying (or not) with having a chronic health condition, celebrating parenthood’s challenges and successes, crafting, puzzles, board games, bike commuting, swimming in lakes, the sound of a bubbling creek on a day off.
I’d love to talk to you about:
Being genderqueer in Seattle and at Seattle children’s, working at Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic, choosing to stay in Seattle from med school to residency, maintaining work life balance with people outside of Medicine, how to get outside and play in the woods in the Pacific Northwest, why I chose the Alaska track.
