What are your identities?
Mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, Indian-American
Who are your people?
My incredible extended family around the world and my local family. Those who love the outdoors, love to
dance, and are open to new ideas and adventures. Those who’ve watched many Bollywood movies (especially
from the 80s & 90s) and danced to those songs. Those who understand and support those of us with diet
restrictions (I have celiac and am vegetarian).
What are you most proud of?
My 2 boys.
WHY UW/SCH?
I feel inspired by my incredible colleagues who are promoting child health equity in so many ways. As a
researcher, I get to collaborate with an interdisciplinary group and community partners to study and promote
play equity for children. I am in awe of the trainees and faculty I get to work with and the passion and
commitment they bring to clinical care, education, research, advocacy, and life!
WHAT’S NEXT?
Whatever it is, I’ll try to be there with joy and gratitude.
