Jorge Rojas-Vallejos
Jorge Rojas-Vallejos (Ph.D. in Economics, University of Washington, 2015) is an assistant professor at the Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB) in Santiago, Chile and previously held a Research Fellow position at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV), Chile. He specializes in macroeconomic theory and development economics. He has published articles in the Journal of Development Economics, Energy Policy, Open Economies Review, and a few other journals.
Rojas-Vallejos is a hydraulic civil engineer that after exercising the profession in Chile for a couple of years decided to study how scarce resources could be allocated more efficiently. That takes him towards the field of economics, first in Australia and later in the United States. He receives multiple prizes and scholarships, highlighting the Crover and Creta Ensley Fellowship in Economic Policy at the University of Washington. His Ph.D. thesis was titled “Essays on Inequality, Economic Activity and Globalization: Theory and Evidence”.
Rojas-Vallejos is interested in macroeconomic theory, international trade and inequality.
