How to give a presentation
* You are responsible for preparing your presentation and scheduling feedback.
* You should ALWAYS have a copy of your poster or talk available on google drive or some other cloud service
* You should ALWAYS have a USB stick of your talk, in case your computer goes fart.
Sensible Timelines
POSTER
1. Discuss content with advisor & schedule practice talks – 2 weeks before * do not forget to check posterboard size!
2. Show advisor rough draft – 10 days before
3. Lab presentation – 1 week before
4. Submit poster to print – 4 days before

TALK
A timeline should look like this for a talk.
1. Discuss content with advisor & schedule practice talks – 2 weeks before
2. Show advisor slides – 10 days before
3. Lab presentation – 1 week before
4. Fine tune with advisor – 4 days before
At the conference
1. You should arrive a minimum or 1/2 hour before your session begins, or at the BEGINNING of the break preceding your session. You should bring a bottle of water.
2. Make sure your presentation works (including all movies)
3. Make sure the moderator knows how to pronounce your name
4. Understand how the microphone is set up, and how the laser pointer works. If you will be miked up, the mike should go on the side where you move your head towards the microphone when looking at the slides.
