Fellowships & Tax
Finally fellowships often change your tax status!, There is a little about this on the dept NRSA info doc (you can find it on the intranet for grad students under NRSA). Often you are not taxed on your stipend as you go, so its typical to owe on the order of a few thousand come tax time. If this is the case you can elect for additional withholdings through the year (explained in the doc).
Usually turbotax will figure all this out from your W2 and 1098-T.
