Giovanni is a multi-disciplinary cross pollinator and system integration engineer. He is interested on exploring new aerodynamic design concepts and their applications on aerospace systems from conception through design, prototyping, and testing. Some examples include active vortex control and flow control system, plasma actuators, and printed electronics/sensors among others. Giovanni is on the board of the PNW chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (SAMPE) and has been at the Vortex Transport Lab since 2016.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Israel has a B.S. in mechanical engineering. Israel focuses on experimental fluid dynamics.
Fiona Spencer

Fiona is a PhD Candidate studying vortex theory.
Janna Wai
Graduate Researcher
Janna investigates reducing fuel evaporation using floating objects inside aircraft fuel tanks. Based on OpenFOAM, she has built CFD simulations that capture the turbulent flow field around floating objects moving independently in a sloshing liquid. She received a B.S. and M.S. in aeronautics and astronautics from the UW.
