Yoon is awarded a funding from WA State Department of LNI!
SMDL is excited to announce that Dr. Yoon and his collaborators have been awarded funding for their new project from the Safety & Health Investment Projects (SHIP) under the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) within the Department of Labor & Industries. The project is titled, “A Comparative Study of Different Wheelchair-toilet Transfer Approaches to Reduce Caregiver’s Work-Related.” This is a two-year project and the starting date will be June 1st, 2023. (requested budget: $ 174,634).
This research focuses on patient transfer between a wheelchair and a toilet as toileting-related patient transfer is essential, but poses substantial injury risks for musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) among caregivers. This project will systematically evaluate different toileting wheelchair/toilet add-on systems, designed to reduce caregivers’ injury risks while improving patient’s toilet experience, in both laboratory and field settings.
