The Schultz Travel Fellowships defray travel and registration costs for scientific conferences. Fellowships are awarded to graduate students in the very broad area of cancer or medical related research, who are making an oral or poster presentation at a scientific conference.

Eligibility

  • Students whose advisor has a principal appointment in Biochemistry may apply, regardless of which graduate program they are in (students in MCB are encouraged to first use travel funds available through their graduate program).
  • Students must be presenting a talk or a poster of their work.

Application

Please submit your application as far in advance of your planned travel as possible. To apply, complete the on line form (https://forms.office.com/r/JmjVFpUcW4). The form requests:
  • a brief explanation of how your work relates to cancer or another medical research area
  • the title and abstract of your oral or poster presentation
  • how attending the conference will contribute to your scientific development
  • if requesting funds for a second time, or for students in their second or fifth years, why this represents an exceptional opportunity
  • anticipated travel costs
  • whether your mentor, program, or another fellowship can help to defray the costs

Please email Tonya Hirtzel at skuse@uw.edu after submitting your application.

Evaluation

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, and are evaluated by a committee of three faculty members and one graduate student.
