Porous biomaterials with pore sizes of 40-50 μm have been studied extensively in our lab and we have verified its ability to reduce the foreign body response after implantation. In general, it takes >3 weeks to produce simple geometries from these porous biomaterials using traditional microbead methods. Our project aims to use 3D printing to standardize the production process of the structure and reduce time. We are also expanding this work to design and 3D print more complex structures.
