UW Bioengineering Resilience Project
UW BMES, the advising staff, and BioE administration have been working to address mental health and wellness in our undergraduate/graduate student body. In an effort to continue this tradition, UW BMES would like to foster a culture amongst students which prioritizes resilience and promotes growth in the face of failure and adversity. To do this, we created a resilience wall in the student lounge which displays stories of adversity, failure, and resilience submitted by students, faculty and staff. The UW Resilience Lab has been doing excellent work relating to “failing forward” around main campus and we are modeling our resilience wall according to their mission of promoting “resilience development while normalizing failure and acknowledging the wide range of hardships our community members have faced and continue to face”.
