 Position Summary: The Civil Engineer I performs entry-level professional civil engineering assignments; assists in planning, coordinating, and conducting the design and construction of street, park, utility and other public works projects and programs, and prepares plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E). Responsibilities may include mapping, permitting and archival functions, and assisting members of department staff on various projects and day-to-day activities. Contract administration duties include responding to complaints from residents, locating parts for contractors, inspecting work in progress,   reviewing contractor invoices, or negotiating change orders.

Requirements: Experience, education or training which provides the level of knowledge, skills and ability equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree with a major study in civil engineering and Washington State Registration as Engineer – in – training or higher with experience as an engineering intern. A valid Drivers’ License is also required. Bilingual is desirable.
