Washington Asphalt Pavement Association Scholarships for Juniors and Seniors

Juniors and Seniors,

The Washington Asphalt Pavement Association will fund approximately 25 scholarships for UW CEE this AY. Typically each scholarship is worth $1,000.

If you wish to apply, do the following: (1) complete the attached application form, (2) prepare a one page personal statement and (3) save as one combined pdf file. Email the pdf file to Joe Mahoney at jmahoney@uw.edu by February 15, 2020.

The scholarships are administered under the guidelines of the National Asphalt Pavement Association Research and Education foundation and their guidelines are:

  • The scholarship program provides funding for undergraduate students who are US citizens and enrolled in a full-time civil engineering curriculum at an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Financial need will not be considered and scholarship awards are renewable if you received one last AY (though not guaranteed).
  • The institution selected by the student (UW CEE) must offer, and the student must take at least one course on Hot Mix Asphalt technology (at UW, CEE 337 meets the requirement no matter when you take it–either Autumn or Spring Quarters.)

Only UW CEE juniors and seniors can apply. If you are selected, you will be notified via email.

Recipients will receive their funds by check from the Executive Director of WAPA, Dave Gent, who is a graduate of this department. Again, if you received a WAPA scholarship award last AY as a junior, you are welcome to apply again as a senior.

Contact Joe Mahoney if you have any questions.
