CEE Rising Seniors,
There are a few important items that you should be aware of when preparing for your Senior Year (in addition to choosing your classes).
- FE Exam – Your CEE Junior year curriculum is set up to prepare you to take the FE Exam, which in turn provides you with your Engineer in Training License (EIT). Having your EIT License on your resume when you attend career fairs is very beneficial. Information can be found here.
- Please note that the FE Exam schedule may be impacted by COVID19. It is our recommendation that you create an account and try to sign up to take the FE exam. If there are delays, you will be informed of them during the registration process.
- BSENVE Majors: Since the BSENVE program’s ABET accreditation is still in progress, you will not be able to take the FE Exam until the accreditation is finalized. We will let you know as soon as this is complete, hopefully in July-August 2020.
- Graduate School – If you are planning for graduate school, you should be preparing your application now, including taking the GRE. UW’s grad school application deadline is December 15th. If you are thinking about applying to grad school, we highly recommend talking with both CEE Faculty and our Graduate Advisers.
- Letters of Recommendation – Whether you are going to graduate school or are on the job hunt, you will need letters of recommendation from CEE Faculty. We recommend choosing a few faculty members, either who you’ve taken classes with or who are in your area of focus, to reach out to. They are expecting to hear from you so do this sooner rather than later. When you contact them, make sure you are providing them with enough information (who you are, your goals, next steps, etc.) that they can write you a personal letter.
- Senior Year Faculty Mentoring Sessions have begun (the next one is on Fri, 5/1). See the attached email from last week with more details. You can also see the session days/times on the Ugrad Advising Calendar.
- 2020-2021 CEE Scholarship Application is now open, please apply!
