Engineering Leadership Opportunity: Apply to become an EPE, EA, or EDC! (Apply by Jan 16th)

Hello CEE Majors –

The College of Engineering is now accepting applications for a variety of outstanding leadership roles.

If you are looking to gain some valuable leadership experience, we strongly encourage you to apply!

The deadline to apply is Sunday, Jan 16th.

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of other students and develop your own leadership skills along the way? Apply now to be an Emerging Leader in Engineering!

The College of Engineering’s Emerging Leaders in Engineering program consists of three sub-programs: Engineering Ambassadors (EAs), Engineering Design Coaches (EDCs), and Engineering Peer Educators (EPEs). These positions are a fantastic opportunity for current engineering undergraduates to gain valuable leadership experience while supporting current and prospective engineering students! If you’re interested in becoming an EA, EDC, and/or EPE, you can now apply through one central application by indicating your interest in one or more programs. Indicating more than one position will not impact your chances of being selected for your first preference. You are also welcome to apply to a single program!

More information about the application process (including the short answer prompts) can be found online here. You can also learn more about each program below:

  • Engineering Ambassadors represent the College at events and activities to help inspire future generations of engineering students. While EAs reach a wide audience, they are specifically focused on providing outreach to communities historically underrepresented in STEM fields.
  • Engineering Peer Educators mentor and support first-year students by facilitating the GEN ST 199 component of Engineering FIGs in Autumn. EPEs play a key role in aiding students’ transition to the UW and CoE.
  • Engineering Design Coaches help develop curriculum and facilitate ENGR 202: Introduction to Making. EDCs mentor students through workshops focused on teaching practical skills in the makerspaces.

Students who are selected to participate in the program will gain:

  • Concrete leadership, public speaking, and communication skills that will strengthen their resume;
  • $1,000 scholarship;
  • ENGR 498 credits to formalize their leadership experience.

Applications are due here by Sunday, January 16th at 11:59pm! Please reach out to engradv@uw.edu if you have questions. I hope you consider this great opportunity!
