Attention Students,
Please see the upcoming summer/early fall study abroad info sessions below! With many deadlines coming up on 1/31 or 2/15, this is a good time for you to learn about your options. All programs below are open to engineering students from any department, but students should work with their advisers to best integrate study abroad into their academic plan.
DENMARK SUMMER CHEMICAL ENGINEERING LAB PROGRAM (Summer, CHEM E 437 and CHEM E 498): Intention of providing experiences as close as possible to practical industrial conditions (chem, BioChem, and pharma industries) with process equipment and instruments. Study at the Technical University of Denmark, a leading European research university, with students from peer institutions.
- INFO SESSION: Tuesday January 10th, 12:30-1:20pm in BNS 109 (tomorrow)
ENGINEERING SPAIN (Summer, INDE 337 and SPAN 199): Students in tihs program will tour manufacturing facilities in and near Leon, Spain, seeing first-hand the manufacturing principles taught in class. Fulfills Writing requirement, and non-ISE students may be able to petition INDE 337 for a technical elective.
- INFO SESSION: Friday January 13th, 12-1pm in MEB 106 or on Zoom. Register here.
ENGINEERING JAPAN (Summer A, ENGR 296): Designed specifically for freshmen and sophomores majoring in science and engineering (STEM) fields. Students will be given insight into the needs of world society based on advanced science and technology of the future. The program will offer cutting-edge classes in next generation science and engineering with a focus on contributing to society through research.
- INFO SESSION: Wednesday January 25th, 4-5pm in Loew 019.
ENGINEERING AUSTRALIA (Early Fall, ME 498): In this team- and project-based design course, students will work with peers and with clinicians serving aboriginal populations to investigate and explore unmet clinical needs. As a study abroad program prioritizing place-based learning, students will also investigate local historical, cultural, and sociological factors related to the design challenge as they explore the unmet health need and propose innovative technical solutions.

ENGINEERING LONDON (Early Fall, HCDE 497 or 598): Students from all backgrounds are welcome! This course offers students an international perspective on techniques and challenges in the domain of Experience Design, using London as a classroom environment. Students will identify several sites of interest within the city, conduct field research using techniques in Experience Design, meet in regular class sessions in a studio-makerspace classroom, and produce designed responses to their research.
ENGINEERING SWITZERLAND (Early Fall, EE 215 and ENG 496): Students will get a first-hand look at the history of Swiss engineering and how it has helped this small nation to become a leader in high-tech research and engineering. With excursions to the CERN facility in nearby Geneva, cheese and chocolate tours in Gruyères and Broc, and the Matterhorn, students will have the opportunity to explore the country and culture of Switzerland all while fulfilling a UW engineering core course.
