Hello CEE Students,

King County is hiring for an Engineer I position within the River and Floodplain Management Section. The application period is currently open and closes Feb. 26th.

“This is an exciting opportunity for a person with the skills and interest to support the King County River and Floodplain Management Section as an Engineer I. Be part of a dynamic, diverse, driven team who step together towards challenges and are continually improving our processes and outcomes. We are a well-funded, mission driven, public service agency at the interface of risk reduction/infrastructure protection and habitat restoration along major rivers in King County. You will have a chance to work on challenging engineering projects in locations spanning from the steep rivers of the cascade mountains to the tidally influenced lowlands and with a diverse and technically challenging body of work.

Our work is important, protecting built infrastructure and restoring natural processes to sustain aquatic ecosystems.  Our team is very diverse, and we work to build community that is welcoming and supportive of different perspectives and provide opportunities for growth and development.  We strive to collaborate, communicate, and continually improve our team processes and cohesion as we design, build, and maintain flood protection facilities across the landscape of King County.”

I was part of the 2016 UW CEE graduating class and currently work on the team that this job posting is for. It’s been a wonderful experience for me and I’m happy to answer questions via email or phone during the application period if students need more info. 😊
