Why join us?

This is an opportunity to work closely with technical mentors and a broader Tech for Good community to solve the real world, climate and health challenges. Sneak peek below.

Challenge # 1: Sensors Africa has the largest air quality sensor network in East-West and South Africa, but the air quality sensors face downtime. This causes data gaps and vulnerability to cyber threats. Can you make their network “bulletproof” with the use of technology?

Challenge # 2: Smart Air Bangladesh is on a mission to raise awareness about air pollution’s hidden dangers. They need a tech solution to connect their sensors to an engaging exhibit, allowing visualization of air quality data in a relatable way.

Challenge # 3: Polish Smog Alert‘s “Clean Lungs” campaign vividly illustrates the impact of smog on health through a physical art installation. They seek a tech solution to digitize this experience, creating a global website/widget that mirrors the changing color of lungs based on real-time air quality data.

Challenge # 4: Afri-SET, dedicated to enhancing air quality monitoring in West Africa, seeks a tech solution to create a universal database for diverse low-cost sensor data. The challenge involves developing an algorithm to standardize outputs from 45 sensors by different manufacturers, ensuring accurate data transmission and correction for environmental factors.

Challenge # 5: Bicara Udara aims to leverage Indonesia’s 2024 elections to address air quality concerns. With a focus on engaging the significant 18-35 age group, comprising 56% of eligible voters, they seek a user-friendly tech solution that will inform about candidates’ views on air pollution, fostering an informed electorate and driving positive change through the ballot box.

Challenge # 6: Thailand Clean Air Network is on a mission to enhance air quality legislation. With a proposal in parliament and over 60k signatures, they’re using tech to simplify complex legal language. Join them and develop a personalized solution that vividly illustrates the positive impacts of their bill, making it accessible and compelling for a diverse audience. Help bridge the gap between legal jargon and people’s lives, empowering them to understand and support crucial legislation for cleaner air in Thailand.

More will announced throughout November. Keep an eye on the Hackathon website.
