Please be an Emerging Leader in Engineering (ELE) at UW

Hi students,

If you are a student that will be at UW as an undergraduate in AY 2024-25 (next academic year) please consider applying to the College of Engineering to be an Emerging Leader in Engineering (ELE). There are several different roles you can apply for and each gives you the opportunity to grow as a leader and mentor while interacting with 1st year and K-12 students. The application takes about 5 minutes to complete but the benefits can last for years.

WHAT: Apply to be an Emerging Leader in Engineering (ELE) at UW

WHEN: Applications are due January 16th, 2024

HOW TO APPLY: Apply here: https://www.engr.washington.edu/student/leadership-programs

We need more of our students to apply for these roles. In the past we have been underrepresented, but we should be overrepresented. 😉

MORE INFORMATION

There are 3 programs that you can apply to:

  1. Engineering Peer Educators (EPEs). Serve in a TA-like role in GEN ST 199, which is essentially the quiz section for ENGR 101 that all 1st year engineering students take.
  2. Engineering Design Coaches (EDCs). Help run workshops for ENGR 106: Experience Engineering. No experience required. They will train you.
  3. Engineering Ambassadors (EAs). Connect with K-12 (they say K-14…not sure what that means) students as part of the COE’s outreach.

Visit each of the above links for precise details on each program. In general, these roles require you to take a class in the Spring (where they train you up) and they pay $1,800 (in the form of scholarship, not cash).
