Hi UW CEE!

For those of you who do not know, I volunteer with the ASCE Seattle Section and wanted to inform you all of an awesome opportunity for students interested in construction engineering! Every year the ASCE Construction Institute (CI) Young Professionals host the “CI Heavy Civil Engineering Team Challenge” also known as Student Days.

We select a real project for the students to “develop a written and oral real-world construction project proposal that takes all conditions into account, including local laws and regulations, as well as minimized impact to traffic, surrounding residential/commercial areas, and shareholders. The project will involve multiple disciplines, including but not limited to civil, foundations, concrete, and steel erection.”

Unfortunately, we cannot reveal the project, but we will be in Costa Mesa, CA from July 12 – 16, 2024. Applications are due April 28, 2024. It is a pretty simple application, but it is competitive. ASCE does cover hotel costs, in addition to partial food and travel expenses.
