Hello!

My name is Sophia Meshinchi and I am a UW student currently living at the Sherwood Co-Operative, the only student housing co-operative in Washington State right here in the U-District! 

Currently, our house is looking for new members for the upcoming school year:) We are hosting an Open House Dinner this upcoming Friday (along with the other dates listed in the interest form) where prospective members can come by, eat a meal, and check out the space to see if they are interested! A little more about Sherwood Co-Op: currently the house and property are held in trust by the Evergreen Land Trust, a 501c3, that holds the property in perpetuity (not to be sold) for the purposes of sustainable, cooperative, and affordable housing. There are 14 rooms in the house and each member gets their own room!

Student members steward the house through democratic decision making. At Sherwood we put our rent money to a good cause, eat well (there are 28 shared meals a month!), practice direct democracy, live out the values of sustainability and social justice, and have so much fun!
