Starting Salary: $19.97 per hour

About Us: The Structural Engineering Laboratory at UW’s Civil and Environmental Engineering department is seeking motivated individuals to join our team. We are dedicated to supporting research and learning initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Job Description: As a Student Helper, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our lab. Responsibilities include general cleaning and organization, operation of hand tools and heavy equipment (after appropriate training), and assisting graduate student researchers with structural testing tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties to ensure a safe and organized work environment.
  • Operate hand tools and potentially heavy equipment such as forklifts and cranes (training provided).
  • Assist graduate student researchers with structural testing setup and data collection under supervision.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week preferred, part-time (20 hours per week) also considered.
  • Willingness to undergo safety training for both tool operation and heavy equipment use.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
